Jonah McGrath, Ceramic Artist
Hello, I’m Jonah McGrath, a ceramic artist and sculptor based in Rochester, New York. My work focuses on functional pottery—pieces that are as enjoyable to use as they are to look at.
I graduated from SUNY Fredonia with a BFA in Ceramics and Sculpture, where I developed a deep appreciation for both craft and material. Over the years, I’ve continued to refine my process as a studio technician, specializing in custom mixed glazes and technical precision that bring depth and individuality to every piece.
My inspiration comes from simple forms, natural textures, and the relationship between art and everyday life. Whether you’re sipping coffee from a handmade mug or filling a vase with fresh flowers, my goal is to create beautiful, durable pieces that enhance your daily rituals.
I’m also a teacher and mentor, sharing my knowledge of ceramics and glaze chemistry with students and fellow makers as part of Little Sparrow Ceramics.
You can find my pottery at local art shows like Corn Hill Arts Festival and The Purple Painted Lady Festival, or explore my latest creations in the online shop.
